IOT Embarks on Observation Mission to Preah Vihear and Banteay Meanchey Provinces

Phnom penh: The Interim Observer Team (IOT), led by Brigadier General Dato' Pahlawan Asri bin Shukor, Head of Mission of the IOT, has left for an observation mission in the Preah Vihear and Banteay Meanchey provinces. The mission is facilitated by the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the delegation includes representatives from Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. They are tasked with observing, verifying, and reporting on the situation in the provinces following the Ceasefire Agreement.

The IOT delegates arrived in Phnom Penh on Wednesday and were received in a courtesy meeting and working discussion by H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, earlier this morning.

The Ministry of National Defence stated, "Their presence represents the active participation of ASEAN member states, particularly Malaysia, in its role as Chair, in supporting a peaceful resolution between the two nations."
