IOT Monitors Closely Thai Forces’ Encroachment Activities

Prey chan: The Interim Observer Team (IOT), led by Malaysia, conducted a field mission at the location where Thai forces are committing the encroachment activities upon Cambodian sovereignty in Prey Chan village, O' Beichoan commune, O' Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province on Oct. 10. The updates were shared by H.E. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia this afternoon.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the encroachment activities by the Thai armed forces including land clearing and mine-clearance operations within Cambodian sovereignty occurred twice: at 11:05 AM, and at 01:55 PM.

'The IOT team has continued to monitor the situation closely, since this morning, to accurately and thoroughly understand and evaluate the above-mentioned situation, ensuring compliance with their mandate to uphold full and effective implementation of the ceasefire,' she underlined.

As planned, the IOT would conduct frequent visits to the aforementioned village throughout the whole week in order to monitor the prevailing situation.
