Phnom penh: The 12th edition of Cambodia Robocon concluded on Sunday with the ITC02 team from the Institute of Technology of Cambodia claiming first prize. As the national champion, ITC02 will represent Cambodia at the International Robocon 2025, scheduled to take place in August in Mongolia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the runners-up were the NUM01 team from the National University of Management and the NPIC01 team from the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia. Organised by the National Television of Cambodia (TVK), the event was held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh. The closing ceremony was presided over by Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra and Minister of Labour and Vocational Training H.E. Heng Sour.
In his remarks, H.E. Heng Sour said the competition provided valuable experiences and knowledge that participants can use as a foundation for career development, innovation, and contribution to national progress. H.E. Neth Pheaktra emphasised that, in the era of artificial intelligence, the rise of digitalisation, automation, robotics, and digital transformation plays a critical role in promoting economic growth and supporting Cambodia's sustainable socio-economic development. He noted that these technologies are becoming increasingly integral to production processes and have the potential to complement the human workforce, enhancing national productivity and global competitiveness.
Cambodia Robocon 2025 brought together eight teams from five institutions: the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC), the National Technical Training Institute (NTTI), the Preah Kossomak Polytechnic Institute (PPI), the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), and the National University of Management (NUM). First launched in 2014, Cambodia Robocon aims to strengthen the intellectual and technical capacities of engineering and automation students, while promoting the country's industrial and automation sectors.
