Japan Commends Cambodia-Thailand Dialogue on Border Issues

Phnom penh: The Government of Japan has expressed its congratulations to Cambodia and Thailand on the progress of their bilateral dialogue on border issues.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Japan acknowledged the significance of the General Border Committee meeting held on September 10, which focused on establishing the ASEAN Observer Team, demining efforts, and resuming cross-border logistics. This meeting was viewed as an important step forward in advancing the ceasefire agreement between the two nations.

The Government of Japan also expressed its respect for the diplomatic efforts of all parties involved in convening the Committee, highlighting Malaysia's crucial role as the ASEAN Chair in advancing the ceasefire agreement. Japan emphasized the importance of both countries continuing to observe the ceasefire agreement to ensure peace and stability in the region.

Furthermore, Japan reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the steady implementation of the ceasefire agreement and de-escalation of tensions, in coordination with relevant countries.
