Japan Supports Emergency Response and Rural Health Services in Cambodia

Phnom penh: The Japanese Government has extended a grant of US$183,588 to Cambodia’s Police Department of Fire Prevention and Rescue, Ministry of Interior, and the Borkeo Referral Hospital. This funding is part of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, known as KUSANONE.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the grant contracts were signed on Oct. 9 by Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. UENO Atsushi and representatives from the two recipient organizations. The grants aim to support two key projects: the procurement of a secondhand ambulance for deployment in one city and two provinces in Cambodia, and the installation of medical equipment at the Borkeo Referral Hospital in Rattanakiri province.

The Japanese Embassy in Cambodia announced that the grants are expected to enhance emergency response capabilities to fires in Phnom Penh, Kandal province, and Preah Sihanouk province. Additionally, the funding will improve medical services in the rural region of Rattanakiri province, thereby contributing to the overall strengthening of Cambodia’s emergency and healthcare infrastructure.
