Kampot Provincial Prosecutor Charges Three Foreign Nationals with Murder

Kampot: The Kampot Provincial Prosecutor's Office has charged three Chinese nationals along with their accomplices for murder and involvement in online scams related to the death of a young South Korean national.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the victim's body was discovered in a black Ford F-150 Raptor in North Kampong Bay village, Sangkat Kampong Bay, Kampot provincial city, at approximately 2:00 a.m. on August 8, 2025. Two Chinese suspects were apprehended immediately following the discovery. Investigations and a preliminary autopsy revealed that the victim, identified as 22-year-old Park Minho, succumbed to severe torture, displaying multiple bruises and injuries across his body.

The investigation led authorities to raid a villa in Bokor city, Kampot province, suspected to be the crime scene. Signs of illegal online operations were uncovered during the raid, and another Chinese suspect was taken into custody. The three accused individuals are currently held in pre-trial detention at Kampot Provincial Prison as the investigation proceeds in accordance with legal procedures.

In a press release issued tonight, the Ministry of Interior stated that Cambodian authorities have not received any complaint or information from the deceased's family or the embassy. This statement contradicts reports by the South China Morning Post, which claimed the family had sought assistance through the embassy and local police. The Ministry further mentioned that authorities are working closely with the South Korean Embassy in Cambodia to facilitate necessary procedures and continue efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects and their accomplices to ensure justice is served.
