KUALA LUMPUR, The Community Development Department (KEMAS) and the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote the culture of early savings through the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) among KEMAS staff and target groups. KEMAS said the strategic collaboration would benefit and enhance the well-being of KEMAS employees and rural communities through various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes. The MoU was signed by KEMAS director-general Datuk Ahmad Kamal Idris Mohd Nawawi and PTPTN chief executive officer Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid. 'PTPTN also handed over RM190,000 in zakat contribution from the SSPN PRIME savings account to KEMAS, benefiting 1,900 asnaf children from KEMAS kindergartens (Tabika) and childcare centres (Taska), with each child receiving RM100. 'This collaboration is an effort to ensure the commitment and responsibility of KEMAS in achieving the mission of empowering rural communities towards a holistic development,' it said in a statement. Additionally, the contribution aims to create understanding and awareness within the community about the importance of savings for education. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
