GUA MUSANG, The South Kelantan Development Authority (KESEDAR) has implemented three main programmes to help fulfil the wishes of second and third generation settlers to own homes with the over RM50 million allocation.
Its general manager, W Muhd Rahimi Wan Salleh said this project was implemented under the Area Development Programme (PPK) to provide house units and lots in three different locations for the second generation who number nearly 10,000 people.
"We have done a census on the second generation in Land Development Plan (RKT) areas and we found that the number of second generation individuals amounts to 14,000 people, but those living in this area is less than 10,000 individuals.
"To fulfil their wishes, KESEDAR has planned several main projects, among them the implementation of the PPK in RKT Paloh 2, providing 93 house units, under the Hardcore Poor Housing Programme (PPRT), with facilities such as a surau and hall,” he told reporters in conjunction with the Let’s Gateh@Paloh 2 programme in RKT Paloh today.
According to him, the implementation of the main programmes involves assistance from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW).
Elaborating further, W Rahimi said through the Rural Growth Programme (PPD), the agency also provides housing lots for the new generation some of whom are self-employed in the settlements.
"Whereas in the second stage, we will provide about 300 housing lots near PPK Paloh 2 which will accommodate approximately that number of people.
"Thirdly, we are also planning to develop settlement areas in RKT Sungai Asap and the concept of providing 100 housing lots for the second and third generations in the Sungai Asap area," he said.
He also said this project was implemented earlier this year and is expected to be completed in two to three years.
“The cost of the PPK Paloh 2 project reached almost RM20 million whereas the PPD in Sungai Asap and Paloh 2 reached over RM40 million. However, we will submit the plans for consideration by the local authorities in both areas (PPD) here," he added.
