KPJU, SEREMBAN KPJ SIGN FIVE-WAY MOU ON RESEARCH COLLABORATION

KPJ Healthcare University (KPJU) and Seremban KPJ Specialist Hospital recently signed a memorandum of understanding with FUJIFILM Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Malaya (UM) to strengthen, nurture and develop research collaboration in the healthcare sector.

KPJU executive director and KPJ Healthcare officer in charge Norhaizam Mohammad said the five-way collaboration would enable the parties involved to work on innovations, enhance patient outcomes and improve healthcare delivery in the field of medical imaging.

She said the cooperation will also focus on research in medical software diagnostics in CT scans.

“With the combined industry expertise of FUJIFILM Malaysia and the research capabilities of all the parties involved, we hope to achieve better contrast detectability and accuracy in chest and abdomen CT scans, to benefit patients in general.

“This will be an important step towards providing a collaborative platform for all parties identifying, planning and harnessing the best insights and exchange of knowledge that can drive transformative changes in redefining healthcare.

“We foresee the collaboration will benefit KPJU, its students and the healthcare industry as a whole,” she said in a statement today.

The collaboration will see comprehensive discussion and activities aimed at generating novel insights and approaches in critical research areas, including but not limited to precision medicine detectability in screening imaging, digital health exploration for more advanced image visualisation and patient-centric improvements.

The collaboration is also a precursor to the establishment of the KPJ Research Centre, a strategic integration between KPJ Healthcare’s existing research facility and KPJU’s Research Management Centre.

The research hub is meant to coordinate, promote and conduct research in healthcare, backed by the hospital’s network of expert medical consultants, scientists and clinicians as well as KPJU’s researchers and academicians.

“The establishment of our KPJ Research Centre aims to nurture collaborative clinical research, conduct clinical trials and establish a research network with local and global research institutes and industries to discover solutions to prevent and treat diseases to improve patient care,” she said.
