A large-scale defense exhibition focusing on ground-based weapons systems will open for a five-day run in September, with support from the Army and the defense ministry, its organizers said Friday. The Korea Army International Defense Industry Exhibition 2024 will take place from Sept. 25 to 29, according to the Association of the Republic of Korea Army (AROKA). The event's location has yet to be confirmed, although Seoul Air Base in Seongnam, just south of the capital, and the Gyeryongdae military headquarters in Gyeryong, 142 kilometers south of Seoul, are being considered as potential sites. Military officials from over 50 countries will be invited to the exhibition, according to AROKA. The exhibition will take place amid South Korea's efforts to carve out a 5 percent share of the global arms export market by 2027 to become the world's fourth-largest defense exporter.
