SEOUL, A South Korean woman in Malawi died last week, the foreign ministry said Tuesday. Local authorities are said to be investigating the possibility that she was murdered last Wednesday after leaving her home. "Our local mission continues to request cooperation from investigation officials of Malawi for a swift and thorough investigation," foreign ministry spokesperson Lim Soo-suk said in a press briefing. The South Korean Embassy in Zimbabwe has dispatched a consular official to Malawi and is providing the necessary consular assistance, an official at the ministry said. South Korea currently has no diplomatic missions in Malawi. The official said the ministry cannot provide further details about the personal information of the victim. The South Korean ambassador to Zimbabwe is also said to have visited Malawi after the incident and met with high-level officials, including the foreign and interior ministers, to request a swift investigation into the case.
