PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) will provide an incentive of RM500 each to 289 prospective pilgrims from B40 families in the federal territories for the 1445H/2024 haj season. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said this incentive was a sign of the department's concern for the welfare of the B40 group and those in need. 'This is part of the government's ongoing effort to ease the burden of the community and hopefully support those undertaking the pilgrimage,' he said in a statement today. The Saudi Arabian government has approved a total of 31,600 haj quota for Malaysian pilgrims this year, based on the 0.1 per cent of the total Muslim population in the country. This year, the Day of Arafah (Wukuf Day) is expected to be on Saturday, June 15. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
