Phnom penh: A delegation of Malaysian investors coordinated by the Malaysia-Cambodia Business Association (MCBA) President Dr. Dato' Sri Ricky Yaw explores investment opportunities in Cambodia during their visit from June 26 to 29.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, on June 26, the delegation participated in a joint business matchmaking event in Phnom Penh, where they were briefed on potential sectors for investment, economic, and trade cooperation in Cambodia. During the event, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) H.E. Lim Visal provided insights into the investment climate and opportunities in Cambodia. The Malaysian investors interacted with about 100 representatives from Cambodian ministries, relevant institutions, and business owners.
On June 27, Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice President H.E. Sun Chanthol welcomed the Malaysian business delegation and emphasized the advantages of investing in Cambodia, citing factors such as peace, political and macroeconomic stability, a young workforce, favorable geographical location, and transportation infrastructure. He highlighted the country's potential as a future regional logistics hub and reiterated the Cambodian government's support for private sector growth through forums, open investment laws, and incentives for investment activities. The digitalization of public service delivery, including the launch of the Cambodia Investment Project Management System, was also discussed.
The Malaysian business delegation expressed their appreciation for the information received and showed interest in investment opportunities in Cambodia, focusing on sectors such as small and medium enterprises (SMEs), agricultural product processing, furniture, construction and real estate, education, and healthcare services.
