KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) today issued a tropical depression advisory (b) detected at a latitude 19.0 north and longitude 112.2 east, approximately 235 kilometres (km) northeast of Hainan, China. MetMalaysia's National Weather and Geophysics Operations Centre, in a statement at 9.20 am, said the storm is moving northward at three km per hour (km/h) with a maximum wind speed of 56 km/h. According to the statement, its distance from the nearest city is approximately 1,437 km northwest of Kudat, Sabah.
