Phnom penh: The National Construction Laboratory of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction (MLUPC) and the Building and Public Works Laboratory of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on laboratory cooperation. The agreement was formalized on August 27 in Phnom Penh by H.E. Say Samal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MLUPC, and H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of MPWT.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the MoU aims to enhance collaboration through the exchange of experience, technical expertise, and research results. This initiative is expected to bolster the capacity of officials and experts, ensuring the quality of construction materials and products used in the sectors overseen by both ministries.
The agreement also focuses on promoting the provision of quality, efficient, and timely services that adhere to technical standards. This will be achieved through various activities, including training programs, seminars, exchange visits, laboratory training, and joint research initiatives.
During the signing event, H.E. Peng Ponea expressed gratitude to DPM Say Samal for spearheading the MoU. He emphasized the importance of both laboratories effectively implementing the agreement, particularly through the sharing of practical experience and technical skills.
The MPWT highlighted that the Building and Public Works Laboratory was established on January 28, 1995, with support from the French government and came under the ministry's supervision in 1996. Meanwhile, the National Construction Laboratory under the MLUPC was set up on December 29, 2022, to provide testing services for construction materials.
