Battambang: Over 100,000 Cambodian migrant workers have flocked from Thailand through the Daung International Border Gate in Kamrieng district, Battambang province, according to a statement from Battambang Governor H.E. Sok Lou.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, on Aug. 6, Governor Sok Lou, accompanied by his wife and a joint task force, coordinated the massive influx of returning workers. The preliminary figures released today indicate that more than 100,000 workers have either returned or are in the process of returning to their home provinces.
Governor Sok Lou stated that Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has shown significant concern for the workers' welfare, prompting the Royal Government to deploy hundreds of buses to provide free, safe transportation. He noted that a large team of authorities, military personnel, civil servants, and youth volunteers are working to manage logistics and assist with the return process.
Returning workers expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and thanked Prime Minister Hun Manet for the free transport, which they said ensured their safe journey home.
Governor Sok Lou has instructed all officials at the border gate to remain vigilant and continue to facilitate the return process, ensuring the safety and dignity of all Cambodian workers.
