MoUs Signed to Boost Cambodia-Yunnan Tourism Cooperation

Yunnan: Five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on tourism cooperation were signed on Aug. 26 in Yunnan province, aiming to strengthen tourism ties between Cambodia and Yunnan, China. The agreements were concrete outcomes of the working visit of a Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, to Yunnan province.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the signing ceremony was presided over by H.E. Huot Hak together with Mr. Ma Zhigang, Head of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Mr. Liu Minglin, CEO of Yunnan Investment Group. The five MoUs included agreements between various tourism and cultural institutions from Cambodia and Yunnan, such as the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Tourism and the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and others involving the Cambodia Tourism Marketing and Promotion Board and Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd.

During his stay in Yunnan, H.E. Huot Hak also engaged with major tourism enterprises, including representatives from leading international travel companies like Trip.com, to exchange views and share experiences on strengthening tourism cooperation. Discussions focused on expanding collaboration to boost tourist flows between Cambodia, Yunnan, and broader international markets, while implementing concrete development plans.

Both sides agreed to promote Cambodia's tourism potential, disseminate accurate information to counter disinformation, and organise a Familiarisation Trip (FAM Trip). Official data shows that Cambodia welcomed nearly 690,000 Chinese tourists in the first seven months of this year, marking a 48.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
