Sihanoukville: Ninety (90) officials from the Information Departments of six southwestern provinces-Preah Sihanouk, Kep, Koh Kong, Kampot, Takeo, and Kampong Speu-are attending a two-day training course on media and public relations.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the course was inaugurated on September 25 in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province, under the leadership of H.E. Chhay Sophal, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information, alongside Mr. Long Dimanche, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Chhay Sophal emphasized that media and public relations are essential priorities for both the Royal Government and the Ministry of Information. He highlighted the Ministry's commitment to evolving into the government's foremost public communication body, characterized by a proactive, interactive, efficient, and effective approach, aligned with the vision of providing information that is 'new, true, fast, and comprehensive.'
He encouraged information officers to remain updated with technological advancements and to collaborate closely with other departments to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of information to the public. He also stressed the necessity of serving as a conduit between citizens and local authorities.
Mr. Long Dimanche stressed the significance of enhancing officials' capabilities in handling information networks, creating digital content-especially for social media-and swiftly countering misinformation.
The training programme, taking place from September 25 to 26, includes sessions on public relations techniques, information management in the digital age, social media content creation, monitoring and analyzing misinformation, ministry work procedures, performance evaluation, and the integration of artificial intelligence in the information sector.
