Outgoing Czech Ambassador Bids Cambodian Foreign Minister Farewell

Phnom penh: Deputy Prime Minister H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received in Phnom Penh on July 23 a farewell visit from H.E. Martin V¡vra, Ambassador of the Czech Republic.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the farewell call, Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn congratulated Ambassador V¡vra on the successful completion of his tenure in Cambodia and commended his dedication to strengthening the long-standing amicable relations between Cambodia and the Czech Republic. He highlighted the Ambassador's efforts in promoting political dialogue, development cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges, and underscored the importance of maintaining regular bilateral dialogue and close cooperation.

The two dignitaries welcomed the steady progress in bilateral ties and discussed the need for early conclusion of pending documents, including on visa exemption, tourism, and agricultural cooperation. They shared the view to encourage the business and trade ties to broaden the economic partnership between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn expressed appreciation for the Czech Republic's long-standing development assistance-particularly in education, health, and rural development-and its recognition of Cambodia as a priority partner in its development cooperation. He also noted with appreciation the Czech scholarship programmes that have supported Cambodian students since the early 1980s, and medical assistance, including to the National Pediatric Hospital.

Ambassador V¡vra expressed his sincere gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, the Ministry, and other Cambodian institutions for the close collaboration extended to him during his four-year posting. He reaffirmed the Czech Republic's commitment to advancing its partnership with Cambodia based on mutual respect and shared interests. He also praised Cambodia's rapid development and future potential.
