As of Jan. 4, at least 20,393 young people, 7,007 of them women, from poor and vulnerable families have registered for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training "TVET 1.5M." The figure was revealed recently on the official Facebook page of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. Of the youths, 7,905 (2,596 female) are from Phnom Penh, 2,499 (1,083 female) from Battambang province, 1,428 (327 female) from Siem Reap province, 755 (215 female) from Kandal province, 718 (247 female) from Preah Sihanouk province, and 7,088 (2,539 female) from other provinces. At least 3,049 youths (452 female) have enrolled in construction skill training, 604 (65 female) in electricity, 449 (66 female) in electronics, 153 (10 female) in manufacturing, and 3,122 (140 female) in in general mechanics/vehicle mechanics. Additionally, 6,569 youths (3,471 female) have signed up for business and IT, 1,198 (1,018 female) for services, 3,051 (101 female) for air-heat conditioners, 1,205 (906 female) for tourism, and 993 (778 female) for agriculture and agro-industry. On Nov. 14, 2023, Samdech Hun Manet officially launched the technical and vocational training (TVET) programme for 1.5 million young people from poor and vulnerable families, namely the "TVET 1.5M."
