BUTTERWORTH, The Penang Island and Seberang Perai local plans, which will guide future development in the island and Seberang Perai until 2030 will be gazetted next year. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the draft of the Seberang Perai Local Plan prepared by the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) has been completed, while the local plan for the island by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) is expected to be ready by the end of the year. "The Penang Island Local Plan had to be redone after several issues were raised when the previous draft was exhibited and MBPP has appointed a consultant to address these concerns. "It is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will be exhibited for public consultation. As for the Seberang Perai Local Plan, it has been completed; however, both plans will be gazetted separately next year," he told reporters here, today after opening the state-level World Town Planning Day 2024 at the PICCA Convention Center, Butterworth Arena. Also present was the State Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee Chairman, H'ng Mooi Lye. Meanwhile, at the same event, Chow also launched the electronic monitoring structure plan (eMOSPlan), an application developed by the Penang Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia@Pulau Pinang), to complement the monitoring system of the Penang Structure Plan 2030. "Through eMOSPlan, all policies, projects, and programmes outlined in RSNPP 2030 can be monitored for implementation and effectiveness, and the application will also involve all state agencies directly responsible as implementing agencies. "This application also allows us to identify any irrelevant policies and take appropriate action to ensure that we can deliver the best services to the people," he said, adding that the performance level of each state agency can also be monitored through the application.
