KUALA PERLIS, Phase I of the Fishermen Resettlement Project (PSN) developed on state government land in Kampung Wai, Mukim Kuala Perlis, aimed at improving the quality of life for fishermen in the state, has been completed.

Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said that the project, costing RM10.54 million under the Fishermen's Special Housing Fund (TKPN), includes a five-story residential block with 60 apartment units, as well as the construction of public facilities such as a mosque and a hall.

"The state government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security through the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM), has developed the PSN Phase I on state government land...the selection of this site is in line with the needs of fishermen in this area," he said during the keys handover ceremony of the PSN.

Mohd Shukri stated that the selection of fishermen for the PSN project was coordinated by Perlis LKIM in collaboration with the Perlis Fishermen's Association, with priority given to fishermen who do not own houses and land..

He added that the offer was through the sale and purchase method with a selling price of RM50,000 per unit.

"Currently, 56 housing units have been offered to successful applicants. Of this total, 17 applicants have received housing financing approval...we hope that this assistance brings happiness to all of you, especially to the 17 PSN house recipients who will receive the keys this afternoon," he said.

He emphasised that the government is very concerned about the basic needs of the people, and this concern is not only expressed through words but is translated into commitment and assistance, including the provision of various basic facilities such as clean water supply, electricity supply, road facilities, and safe and comfortable housing.
