PM Engages with Japanese Investors and Trade Leaders in Tokyo

Tokyo: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet held separate meetings with Japanese investors, a trade organization, and an economic research institute during his official visit to Tokyo, Japan, from May 28-31.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Demizu Shigemitsu, President of YACHIYO Engineering Co., Ltd., and his delegation expressed interest in expanding investments in wastewater treatment in Preah Sihanouk province, Cambodia. The President highlighted that YACHIYO Engineering employs modern technology to address waterborne diseases, thereby enhancing public hygiene and local well-being while contributing to the development of a smart city.

In another meeting, Mr. Deng Minghui, President of Shinto Holdings Inc., informed the Cambodian Prime Minister about his intention to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia, particularly focusing on utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle environmental challenges.

Mr. Ishiguro Norihiko, President and CEO of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), shared plans to bring a delegation of Japanese investors to Cambodia to explore potential investment opportunities in the country.

During discussions with Prof. Watanabe Tetsuya, President of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the Cambodian Prime Minister received an update on a feasibility study aimed at preparing special economic zones tailored for specific industry or country investments in Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his full support for all investment initiatives in Cambodia, emphasizing their contributions to the nation's economic and trade development.
