Kandal: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia's commitment to combat all forms of child abuse, calling for strengthened cooperation from both public and private sectors in this effort.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Premier made these remarks while he and his spouse, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Lotus Centre-a new facility under the Cambodian Children's Fund (CCF)'s Child Protection Unit (CPU) in Kandal province. Samdech Thipadei expressed gratitude to the CCF and the CPU for their work in caring for, supporting, and bringing hope to vulnerable children and victims of abuse.
He urged all ministries, institutions, authorities at all levels, the private sector, civil society organisations, development partners, and national and international organisations to increase their engagement in the government's nationwide campaign to end all forms of abuse. The Prime Minister praised the CPU as a successful outcome of the partnership between the General Commissariat of National Police and CCF. Established in 2013, the CPU has played a role in supporting investigations and providing protection to victims of child abuse.
The newly launched Lotus Centre aims to offer high-quality services in a secure, compassionate, and child-focused environment. Its design has earned international recognition and is seen as a model facility that could be replicated in other countries. The centre is expected to set a new national benchmark for the care of child abuse victims by providing a safe haven where survivors are treated with dignity, care, and respect.
Notably, the Lotus Centre will also serve as the base for Cambodia's Task Force on Cybercrime Against Children, reinforcing the country's role in the global fight against online child exploitation.
