Prime Minister Initiates Labour Medals for Long-Serving Officials

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has instructed ministries and institutions and sub-national administrations to select officials for the awarding of labour medals.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister issued a voice message detailing that this initiative will target civil servants and contracted officials who have served for at least 10 years, actively engage in their duties, maintain regular attendance, have a clean record, and have never previously received a labour medal.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet directed the Office of the Council of Ministers to establish an ad-hoc working group. This group is tasked with collaborating with all ministries, institutions, and sub-national administrations to identify officials eligible for the award.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister has instructed the drafting of a new directive to better align with the current circumstances. He noted that the existing quota of 10 percent might limit the opportunities for civil servants to receive labour medals.

In his message, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated, 'Of course, we cannot award medals to all officials at once, but we must establish a reasonable quota that allows flexibility to ministries and institutions and sub-national administrations to nominate eligible officials, who are in large numbers, and comply with specific conditions and qualifications for medal awarding.'
