A Russian diplomat stationed in Seoul refused to take a breathalyzer test after causing a collision accident earlier this week, police said Friday. The diplomat working at the Russian Embassy had a collision with another car in an alley in Seosomun-dong, central Seoul, at around 8:46 p.m. Thursday, according to the Seoul Namdaemun Police Station. Police officers, detecting the suspicious smell of alcohol from the diplomat, attempted to conduct a breathalyzer test but he refused, claiming diplomatic immunity, the station said. Afterward, an employee from the embassy came to the scene and took the diplomat away. Police said they plan to consider whether to book him on charges of violating the road traffic law.
