SEOUL, South Korea's oceans ministry said Tuesday it will host an international maritime conference in the southeastern port city of Busan next year to discuss pollution, climate change and sustainable fisheries. The 10th Our Ocean Conference, which will run for three days starting April 28, 2025, will be held under the slogan "Our Ocean, Our Action" and is expected to attract 1,000 participants from 100 nations and 400 institutions, according to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. "By successfully hosting the conference, South Korea will bolster its position as a key global leader in the maritime and fisheries sector, leading the implementation of maritime regulations," Oceans Minister Kang Do-hyung said. The annual event, which kicked off in 2014, centers on sharing ideas on a wide array of issues related to the ocean environment, including the maritime economy and security. Other major agenda items include tackling illegal fishing and preserving maritime biodiversity, the ministry added. Source: Yo nhap News Agency
