South Korea's industry ministry said Thursday it has co-hosted a clean energy dialogue with its U.S. counterpart this week to discuss ways to establish an economic partnership powered by clean energy sources. Some 80 government, business, and academic officials shared related opinions during the form in Washington, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. During the session, the two countries discussed ways to develop energy storage systems to promote clean electricity, as well as the commercialization and deployment of clean hydrogen technologies, the ministry said. "We have a valuable opportunity to unlock further potential for Korea and the United States to engage in mutual efforts towards a clean energy future while the Korean private sector has responded to the attractive IRA incentives by investing in the United States," Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun said in a statement. Ahn was referring to the Inflation Reduction Act, which entails incentives to transition to clean energy and addr ess climate change. Ahn also proposed to regularize the clean energy forum to continue related discussions at the ministerial level. "By strengthening our energy cooperation, I am confident that we can achieve energy security and address the climate crisis facing our world together," the South Korean minister added.
