South Korean golfer An Byeong-hun defeated compatriot Tom Kim in a playoff for a DP World Tour victory on home soil Sunday. An birdied the par-5 18th for the first playoff hole to win the Genesis Championship at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, just west of Seoul, and bagged US$680,000. This was An's second career win on the DP World Tour, formerly called the European Tour, after his breakthrough at the BMW Championship in 2015. The Genesis Championship is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the KPGA Tour, and An, a PGA Tour veteran, now has two career wins on the South Korean circuit, too. An and Kim began the final round tied for the lead, and both shot a five-under 67 in the final round to finish at 17-under 271. They went back to the 18th for the playoff, and An got his clinching birdie, while Kim, a three-time PGA Tour winner, ended up with a bogey -- the first bogey he'd made on the 18th hole this week. Among 32 KPGA players in the field of 120, Kim Hong-taek was the top performer as he tied for ninth at 11-under. Only two others finished inside the top 30. Source: Yonhap News Agency
