The business communities of South Korea and Cambodia on Thursday discussed bilateral cooperation in areas of cutting-edge technologies, including fintech and urban development, according to a Seoul business lobby. The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce co-hosted a bilateral business forum in Seoul to discuss ways to promote shared economic growth, the lobby group said. The event was held on the occasion of a summit between leaders of the two countries held earlier in the day. At the summit, President Yoon Suk Yeol and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet agreed to establish a strategic partnership between their countries and expand cooperation across various sectors. The forum spotlighted Cambodia's economic situation, investment environment, promising industries for investment and policy of attracting foreign capital. Additionally, six memorandums of understanding were signed, including an agreement between the business chambers pledging to extend their cooperative ties The National Bank of Cambodia and three South Korean financial institutions, KB Kookmin Bank, Woori Bank and JB Financial Group, also signed agreements related to overseas payments. In a congratulatory speech for the forum, South Korean Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun emphasized the need to "upgrade economic cooperation between the two countries to the next level" and stressed cooperation should be expanded in areas such as advanced industrial technology and greenhouse gas reduction.
