A South Korean university student has died after suffering from dengue fever in Pakistan, the South Korean Embassy in the country said Sunday. The 23-year-old, whose name was withheld, died last Tuesday while being treated for the disease at a hospital in the country's northeastern city of Lahore, according to the embassy. The late student, who attended a university in Seoul, had visited Pakistan late last month for personal reasons. The student's father arrived in Pakistan on Saturday to repatriate the body to South Korea, an embassy official said. Dengue fever is an infectious disease carried by mosquitoes and can lead to symptoms such as high fever and muscle pain. In severe cases, it can lead to dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome. Source: Yonhap News Agency
