MAKKAH, Media organisations worldwide must strive to deliver accurate information to the international community and avoid disseminating unverified news, says Saudi Press Agency (SPA) president Dr Fahd bin Hassan al Aqran. He emphasised that media organisations, especially news agencies, should serve as the best sources of news, particularly for Muslims, to ensure the information provided was authentic. "Muslims are now present all over the world, so as the media, we can voice their opinions, feelings, and needs, especially for Muslim minorities in certain countries. "This is our responsibility as Muslims... as media agencies whether from Qatar, Malaysia, or other countries," he said. Fahd made these remarks while speaking to reporters during his visit to the Hajj Media Hub, where he also interacted with international journalists covering the Hajj season this year at the invitation of SPA. Meanwhile, Fahd described the coverage by invited media partners for this Hajj season as a noble service to Muslims worldwide. "It is also an opportunity for all of you to dedicate your work as media practitioners to provide the best coverage for the prospective Hajj pilgrims this season," he said. He also prayed for SPA media partners to perform Hajj successfully and attain a blessed pilgrimage. This year, 21 journalists and photographers from 10 news agencies representing 10 countries, including Malaysia, have been invited by the SPA to cover the Hajj season. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
