Phnom Penh: The Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) and Securities Investors Association of Cambodia (SIAC) co-organized on June 19 a workshop on "Understanding Investment and Financing Instruments in the Securities Sector" under the support of Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX), ACLEDA Securities Co., Ltd., Benjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., and Gold Financial Global Investment Co., Ltd.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the workshop was presided over by H.E. Sou Socheat, Delegate of the Royal Government in Charge as Director General of the SERC, along with H.E. Dr. Vin Pheakdey, Deputy Director General of the SERC, and Mr. Yoeung Virakboth, President of the SIAC at the Non-Bank Financial Services Authority (FSA) Building. The event aimed to enhance awareness of the securities sector and the benefits of investing in it among management and officials of the General Secretariat of the FSA, units and regulators under the FSA, and members of the SIAC.
The workshop delved into key financial instruments such as equity, bonds, collective investment schemes (CIS), derivatives, and digital asset trading. It was designed to help participants explore opportunities for generating passive income in addition to their existing earnings. Participants were provided with a free Investor Identification number from the SERC and a free open trading account from ACLEDA Securities Co., Ltd., which included an additional 2 shares of ACLEDA Bank Plc to practice trading during the workshop.
During the workshop, H.E. Delegate emphasized the necessity of having knowledge related to the securities sector as it lays the foundation for conducting analysis before making investment decisions. He pointed out that understanding financial instruments is crucial for aligning with one's level of understanding and risk tolerance. Mr. Yoeung Virakboth highlighted the importance of linking learning with regular practice to enhance knowledge and develop additional skills. He also advised investors to seek profits through regulated investment projects to generate income that exceeds expenses.
The workshop was attended by management and officials of the General Secretariat of the FSA, units and regulators under the FSA, and members of the SIAC, totaling 122 participants. Presentations were delivered by representatives from the SERC, CSX, ACLEDA Securities Co., Ltd., Benjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., and Gold Financial Global Investment Co., Ltd.
