Phnom penh: Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed hope that the leaders of Cambodia and Vietnam will soon inaugurate a newly constructed international border gate located in Meun Chey village, Krabao commune, Kamchay Mear district, Prey Veng province. Speaking this morning at a gathering with students and teachers at the Kamchay Mear Education and Training Centre, Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that the new Cambodia-Vietnam Meun Chey International Border Gate will help further promote trade and people-to-people connectivity between the two neighbouring countries.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, bilateral trade between Cambodia and Vietnam has already reached US$5 billion, and both sides have now set a new target of around US$20 billion. The new international border gate, he underlined, will play a key role in achieving this goal.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen highlighted that Cambodia is moving toward balanced trade with Vietnam, noting that last year, Cambodia's exports to Vietnam exceeded its imports. This shift in trade dynamics is seen as a positive development for Cambodia's economy.
