Kweon Ki-hwan, South Korea's deputy foreign minister for global and multilateral affairs, has attended a ministerial session of the Group of 20 meeting in Brazil to discuss major development issues, the foreign ministry said Thursday. He took part in the two-day development ministers' meeting that was held in Rio De Janeiro starting Monday, the ministry said. Kweon discussed with participants ways to expand access to clean drinking water and sanitation, reduce inequality, and enhance cooperation in the field of development cooperation. He introduced the country's development movement, called Saemaul Movement, as an example of improving community water and sanitation and reducing poverty. He explained that South Korea plans to contribute to preventing water-related conflicts and stabilizing communities in the Middle East in the future.
