Shinsegae Group said Thursday it has partnered with U.S. media group Paramount Global to build a large-scale theme park in South Korea. Shinsegae and Paramount Global plan to build the Hwaseong International Theme Park in Hwaseong, 45 kilometers south of Seoul, which will accommodate entertainment facilities, hotels, resorts, and apartment complexes, the group said in a statement. Shinsegae said it will obtain approval for the construction of the "Star Bay City" project from the Gyeonggi provincial government, with an aim to open the 4.2 million-square-meter theme park in 2029. Paramount Global, which owns CBS, cable channel MTV, and movie studio Paramount Pictures in the U.S., will participate in the planning of the theme park, the statement said.
