Siem Reap: Siem Reap province, home to the famous Angkor temples, will host the 46th ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (46th ACDM) Meeting and Related Meetings on May 20-23, 2025. The opening ceremony will be presided over by H.E. Gen. Kittisangahapundit Kun Kim, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and First Vice-President of the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), pointed out a press release of the NCDM General Secretariat.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meetings are jointly organised by the ASEAN Secretariat and the General Secretariat of NCDM. They will bring together senior disaster management officials from the ten ASEAN Member States, as well as Timor-Leste as an observer. Representatives from ASEAN Dialogue Partners, namely the People's Republic of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, will also participate in the upcoming regional event.
In addition, the ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, the Executive Director of the AHA Centre, senior officials from ASEAN sectoral bodies, development partners, and donors are expected to be present at the meetings. The ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) serves as the regional platform for enhancing cooperation among ASEAN member countries focused on disaster risk reduction and management, enhancing resilience and preparedness for disasters through capacity building and exchange of good practices.
The ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) has increasingly contributed to the coordination and proactive approach to disaster management to enhance the safety, well-being, and resilience of communities across the Southeast Asian region through the implementation of the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER).
The 46th ACDM and Related Meetings will include the following sessions: 46th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM), 22nd Meeting of the Governing Board of AHA Centre (GB of AHA Centre), 7th Meeting of the ASEAN Disaster Resilience Platform (ADRP), 9th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) plus China, 9th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) plus Japan, 8th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) plus ROK, Launch of AHA Centre Projects and Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Intent (MOI) with Partners.
The above meetings are organised in the aspiration of reaffirming ASEAN's commitment to enhancing regional disaster resilience and to further strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
