KUALA LUMPUR, The Federal Territories cycling team aims to improve on its previous three silver medal haul by springing a surprise at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Sarawak from Aug 17 to 24. Federal Territories Sports Council cycling sports coordinator, Muhammad Haekal Abd Halim expressed optimism about the current performance of the team's 14 members, who will be competing in the road race, BMX and mountain bike events in Kuching. "Based on their condition and preparation, I'm confident they, as underdogs, will spring a surprise and bring home gold medals. "With good results in several previous events, our cyclists, can improve their performance, especially in the road race,' he told Bernama today. The three silver medals won in the Kuala Lumpur SUKMA in 2022 came from Muhammad Fahmi Khairul (men's cross country), Nur Deena Safia Nor Effandy (women's cross country) and Yeong Zhen Yi (women's individual 100 kilometre mass-start).
