Four locations have been chosen by the Terengganu branch of the Information Department (JaPen) to hold a successful Merdeka@Komuniti programme, in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2023 celebrations.
Terengganu JaPen director Sait Yaman said various national activities to show the community's love for the nation are being held, beginning on July 22, at these locations -- Seberang Takir, Permaisuri, Langkap and Batu Rakit.
He said the Merdeka@Komuniti programme is aimed at encouraging the community to fly the 'Jalur Gemilang' (national flag) at their respective residences and premises, apart from singing the national anthem "Negaraku" and reciting the Rukun Negara.
"Apart from encouraging people to fly the Jalur Gemilang, we also aim to convey a message of unity, especially among pluralistic societies, which shows the importance of mutual tolerance for each other," he told Bernama here today.
Besides the Merdeka@Komuniti programme, Said said the Jalinan Insan Wahana Aspirasi (JIWA) programme, which is divided into three segments namely Sembang Santai, Sahabat JaPen and Santai Anak Muda, will be organised with the implementation method left to the creativity of the respective district information officers.
"For the culmination of the HKHM programme, we plan to have the Menapak MADANI programme in which we will join the local community in a 2.4-kilometre walk, waving the Jalur Gemilang and having various national activities,” he added.
