Thailand to Bolster Educational Ties with Cambodia

Thailand: Thailand is strengthening cooperation with Cambodia in education by boosting Thai educational institutions and the private sector of Thailand in Cambodia to support the sector.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the note was highlighted by H.E. Tull Traisorat, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports in Phnom Penh on May 22.

H.E. Tull Traisorat continued that the cooperation not only aims to promote relations but also to build the human capital among the two countries to meet the demand for the job market in the digital age.

The Thai Ambassador highlighted the cooperation between Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports and the support by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand in the development of the Kampong Speu Institute of Technology and the Kampong Chheuteal Institute of Technology.

The two sides also agreed to continue their three-year cooperation through the support project, he added.

H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron appreciated the government of Thailand's continued cooperation in developing human resources and promoting the education sector in Cambodia through providing scholarships for Cambodian students to pursue bachelor's, master's, and PhD degrees at prestigious universities in Thailand.

Besides the scholarships, he pointed out, there are also Thailand-supported projects, such as joint research, life skill development at schools, and the support for some Cambodian universities by the Thai International Cooperation Agency (TICA).
