Yoon meets new U.S. Indo-Pacific commander

President Yoon Suk Yeol met Thursday with the new commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and discussed North Korea's nuclear and missile threats, his office said. Yoon asked Adm. Samuel Paparo to maintain a firm combined readiness posture amid North Korea's illegal nuclear and missile development and provocation threats, and to help build an integrated form of extended deterrence between South Korea and the U.S. Extended deterrence refers to America's commitment to using the full range of its military capabilities, including nuclear, to defend its ally. Paparo pledged to work closely with South Korea to maintain a firm combined defense posture, the presidential office said. Source: Yonhap News Agency
