President Yoon Suk Yeol vowed Friday to push for a revision to the law to allow the operation of sightseeing trains and campgrounds at national forests. Yoon made the remark during a ceremony marking Arbor Day, saying he will seek a revision to the State Forest Administration and Management Act within the year so that people can enjoy national forests while also preserving the environment. The ceremony was held at Myeongji Neighborhood Park in Busan, 320 kilometers southeast of Seoul, with the attendance of some 1,200 people, including students, forestry workers and government officials. Yoon said in his commemorative remarks that the government will increase the number of urban forests, build 150 more forest experience centers for children, and complete the construction of an 849-kilometer forest trail cutting across the country from Taean, South Chungcheong Province, to Uljin, North Gyeongsang Province, before the end of his term. Following the ceremony, Yoon planted a "Miseon" tree, which is unique to Korea, at a forest experience center for children. He was joined by fifth grade students from Busan's Nammyeong Elementary School. Source: Yonhap News Agency
