Siem reap: The 3rd Angkor Dictation Competition is set to take place on January 18, 2026, with the goal of promoting Cambodian literature and drawing attention to the Angkor area, a significant cultural and historical site.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the competition will commence at 7:00 a.m. at the Western Causeway of Angkor Wat Temple. Interested participants have until December 22, 2025, to register via Telegram number: 092 337 626.
This annual event is open to individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds, both Cambodians and foreigners. Participants will be judged on their ability to accurately write Khmer words, with winners being recognized for their exceptional skills.
Organizers anticipate around 1,500 participants for this year's event, divided into two categories: Group 1 for those under 18, and Group 2 for participants aged 18 and above.
According to the APSARA National Authority, the competition aims to encourage precise Khmer writing in accordance with established spelling rules, while also honoring those with outstanding skills. The 2nd edition, held on January 19, 2025, attracted 1,220 participants, whereas the inaugural event on January 21, 2024, had approximately 700 contestants.
