Battambang: An increasing number of Cambodian migrant workers are returning home from Thailand via the Daung International Border Gate in Kamrieng district, Battambang province. Today, they received a warm welcome from H.E. Sok Lou, Governor of Battambang province, accompanied by his spouse, alongside provincial authorities and dedicated support teams.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Governor Sok Lou and his spouse personally greeted the returnees, offering words of encouragement and distributing food and drinking water to assist them on their journey home. In his remarks, H.E. Sok Lou emphasised that the safe repatriation of migrant workers remains a top priority for the Royal Government under the leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia. As part of this commitment, the Royal Government has deployed hundreds of buses to provide free transportation for workers returning to their home provinces.
The returnees expressed profound gratitude for the royal government's support, sharing their relief and joy at safely reuniting with their homeland. Many stated their intention to seek employment opportunities within Cambodia rather than returning to work abroad. They also extended heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Hun Manet for his unwavering focus on their well-being and the logistical assistance facilitating their smooth return.
Governor Sok Lou reaffirmed his directive to local authorities, technical officers, and border personnel at the Daung International Border Gate to maintain vigilance, enhance coordination, and ensure an efficient and compassionate repatriation process for all Cambodian workers arriving from Thailand.
