Phnom penh: The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Cambodia have formalized a memorandum of understanding focused on strengthening labour migration in the country. The agreement was officiated in a ceremony led by H.E. Heng Sour, the Cambodian Minister of MoLVT, and Ms. Nellie Ghusayni, Chief of IOM Mission in Cambodia, at the ministry.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian Minister emphasized the significant contributions of migrant workers to both their home and host nations. He urged stakeholders to collaborate in protecting the rights and dignity of these workers. The Minister also highlighted Cambodia's journey through various challenges, which has equipped it with the requisite experience and commitment to safeguard the rights of migrant workers.
Ms. Nellie Ghusayni acknowledged Cambodia's progress in supporting migrant workers, emphasizing the country's development of policies designed to protect their rights and welfare. She expressed satisfaction in partnering with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and other stakeholders to ensure the protection and respect of migrant workers' rights in Cambodia without discrimination, regardless of their origin or region.
