Zhengzhou: Cambodia has emphasised the importance of media integrity and regional cooperation at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit held in Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province. Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information H.E. Ros Thansan highlighted Cambodia's initiatives to combat misinformation and strengthen ethical journalism.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in his remarks, Ros Thansan outlined Cambodia's achievements in developing a responsible information sector, including the implementation of a Charter of Journalistic Profession and nationwide digital literacy programmes. He also addressed the Ministry of Information's 2025 campaign against fake news, which has gained regional support for cross-border efforts to curb misinformation.
"Accurate, balanced, and timely information is crucial for building trust domestically and internationally," he stated, underscoring Cambodia's focus on ethical journalism and information security. H.E. Ros Thansan reaffirmed Cambodia's support for the SCO's goals, noting the vital role of media and think tanks in promoting open dialogue and countering misinformation. He called for continued cooperation to build stronger, more trusted partnerships across the region.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit held its plenary session in Zhengzhou on Friday. Themed "Upholding the Shanghai Spirit to Build a More Beautiful Home," the event gathered more than 400 representatives of nearly 200 media outlets, think tanks, and government agencies from SCO member states, observer states, and dialogue partners, as well as international and regional organisations.
The summit provided a platform for SCO members to share best practices and align strategies for harmonious development. Cambodia's active participation underscores its dedication to regional solidarity and the 'Shanghai Spirit' of mutual trust and shared progress.
