Phnom penh: On the morning of Aug. 20, Cambodia celebrated Fit ASEAN Day 2025 under the theme "Healthy Community, Developing Community" at the Statue of the Princess in Branha Baromey Park, Phnom Penh.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, stated that Fit ASEAN Day 2025 was held as part of the ASEAN plan to promote physical and mental health and assess the fitness of people in ASEAN member states.
ASEAN has been actively working towards promoting healthy lifestyles and combating non-communicable diseases (NCD) in the region, emphasized the Secretary of State. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of the ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting on Health and the ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting on Sports in raising awareness of the critical role that physical activity and nutrition play in enhancing public health and fostering sustainable, inclusive economic growth.
The Fit ASEAN Day 2025, organized by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports in collaboration with the Phnom Penh Administration, attracted a crowd of 500 coaches, athletes, students, and members of the public. The event featured a variety of activities, including fitness assessments for 100 individuals, group exercise sessions set to music for 300 participants, and table tennis and badminton matches for groups of 50 each.
