Cambodia Protests Thai Military’s Border Encroachments

Phnom penh: The Cambodia Joint Border Committee (JBC) Secretariat, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has officially protested against recent actions by the Thai armed forces. On August 19, the JBC reported that the Thai military had laid barbed wire, erected black nets, and placed tires in several locations along the border, encroaching into Cambodian territory.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the update was shared by H.E. Nong Sakal, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during a press briefing in Phnom Penh. He stated, "The Cambodia JBC asks the Thai military to remove the installations from all mentioned locations. Such actions seriously undermine trust." Cambodia is urging Thailand to fully respect all bilateral agreements and international obligations.

The spokesperson emphasized Cambodia's commitment to the ceasefire agreement jointly reached by both nations. He noted, "We believe this agreement is a solid foundation for building lasting peace for all," underscoring the importance of adherence to the agreement to maintain peace and stability in the region.
