Preah vihear: The Interim Observer Team (IOT), led by Col. Nazlee Bin Abdul Rahim, Defence Attaché of Malaysia to Cambodia, embarked on a mission to Preah Vihear province this morning. The visit, coordinated by the Ministry of National Defence, aims to conduct on-site inspections related to the ongoing ceasefire. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence, stated that the delegation consists of representatives from five countries. Their objective is to observe, verify, and report on the current situation following the Ceasefire Agreement. This mission is a result of agreements made during the Special Meeting held on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia, and the Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border (GBC) Committee on August 7, 2025. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata emphasized Cambodia's dedication to maintaining the ceasefire agreement and its commitment to international law principles, peace ful dispute resolution, and preserving sovereignty and territorial integrity. She highlighted that the conditions along the frontline in Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, and Banteay Meanchey provinces have remained calm and stable from midnight until 6:00 a.m. today. Moreover, she reiterated Cambodia's appeal to Thailand for the immediate release of 18 Cambodian soldiers, who have been detained for 21 days, 23 hours, and 10 minutes as of 7:00 a.m. on August 20.
