Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee Holds Extraordinary Meeting to Enhance Peace Efforts

Phnom penh: The Extraordinary Meeting of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) between Cambodia's Military Region 3 and Thailand's Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command is underway today, with discussions scheduled to last the entire day.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the announcement was made earlier this morning by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence. She highlighted that the RBC Secretariat had already convened an extraordinary meeting yesterday in Thailand's Trat province, resulting in positive developments.

The spokesperson expressed hopes that today's RBC meeting would lead to constructive outcomes, furthering the peaceful and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement. This is aimed at restoring peace, stability, and normalcy in the border areas. H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata emphasized the importance of these discussions in fostering cooperation between the two nations.

She further remarked that this extraordinary RBC session builds on the outcomes from the Special Meeting held on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia, and the previous Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) concluded on August 7, 2025.

These meetings have consistently underscored the importance of maintaining regular communication between the military regions and border defence units of both countries. The commitment to resolving issues through peaceful dialogue and avoiding confrontations remains a central theme, as reiterated by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata.
